Daily Briefing, 6/11/2009

Good morning everyone! We are back and ready to blog once again. Here is your Daily Briefing today.

Local health officials made a public plea yesterday: if you have flu-like symptoms, stay home. Lehigh County has 40 cases of the H1N1 influenza virus, the third highest in Pennsylvania. Also in Lehigh County, County Executive Don Cunningham has asked that proposed Republican campaign finance legislation be strengthened so that all potential candidates are subjected to its reach. Meanwhile, a group of Lehigh County Republicans met yesterday in an attempt to unite the local party around a series of core principles.

Some good economic news, as May foreclosures dropped 6% from April\ - but were still the third highest month on record. Meanwhile, President Obama and Congress appear set to battle over how to best reign in executive pay.

We have three Chamber events today: a Grand Opening for a new facility at Westminster Village, a mixer at the Lehigh County Senior Center and a new Lunch with the Leaders event, featuring Kim Snuder, President & CEO of Eastern Industries.

And that's it! Have a great day and we will catch you later.
