Daily Briefing, 6/22/2009

Good morning everyone! Here is what we have for you on this Monday.

In the way of local news, there isn't a whole lot to talk about today. WFMZ runs a story on the struggles that community pools are facing as they try to stay open this year. And, Bethlehem Sands must be doing something right, because Atlantic City Casinos are now specifically targeting Lehigh Valley residents in advertising campaigns, with some billboards going as far as to attack the Sands directly. Meanwhile, in Bethlehem, the controversial hot dog vendor story continues, with Bethlehem looking to craft legislation to deal with the vendor as quickly as possible.

Some good news for all of us on the national front, as gas prices have finally stopped increasing (and dipped every so slightly) for the first time in 54 days. And then there's bad news for all of us - a recent survey showed that 25% of all employers have cut back on their to 401(k) programs.

Business Matters airs today, featuring a one-on-one interview with Congressman Joe Sestak. The show is on at 8:00pm, and you can debate the show live at the Business Matters blog.

We have one Chamber event today: a seminar on how to increase your company's sales and margins. Now there's something everyone needs these days!

Anyway, that's all we have today. Have a great day, and we'll catch you later!
