Buy Local, Buy Lehigh Valley

One of the things that The Chamber is a huge support of is buying local. At The Chamber, we firmly believe that buying local can make a big improvement on the Valley's economy. There are many reasons why this is a good thing, but perhaps the most telling is the economic rationale - buying local means that more of your money stays local and enriches the local economy. Buying local is important for the Lehigh Valley, and we encourage you and all Lehigh Valley businesses to learn more about our Buy Lehigh Valley initiative.

For information that is more geared towards consumers (as opposed to business to business models), we encourage you to check out the 3/50 project. This website tries to get consumers to visit three independently owned businesses and spend $50 in them. From the website: "If half of the employed population spent $50 each month in locally owned independent businesses, it would generate more than $42.6 million in revenue.

That is quite a powerful number.
