Daily Briefing, 8/10/2009

Good morning everyone, and hope you had a great weekend! Here is today's Daily Briefing.

The Morning Call runs a story on the availability of charter schools in the Lehigh Valley, noting that there will be eight operating Valley-wide this September. In South Bethlehem, a $10,000 study will be used to determine how to better enhance the South Side. The Express Times takes a look at the economy, gas prices and their effect on local vacations, noting that a possible economic recovery means that last-minute vacations in August are possible. WFMZ, meanwhile, takes a look at the budget crisis and how it is effecting Pennsylvania schools.

In national news, a Wall Street Journal story notes that, though the economy is looking up, we are not out of the woods just yet. Gas prices are on the rise again - up $.15 in two weeks.

Business Matters airs tonight at 8:00pm on WFMZ. The show will feature a look at American voter apathy.

And that's it! Have a great day and we'll catch you later.
