Daily Briefing, 8/6/2009

Good morning everyone! Here is today's Daily Briefing.

In state-wide news, Governor Rendell yesterday signed the bridge budget that will allow Pennsylvania to fund government operations and pay state employees. Some are already taking their paychecks, as it appears that Pennsylvania Democrats in the House paid themselves before paying state employees.

In national news, a new CNN poll shows that 50% of people support President Obama's health care plans, while 45% of people oppose them. CNN also runs a story, showing economic data available since Obama first took office. In other news, the Senate voted late last night to extend the popular "Cash for Clunkers" program by infusing it with another $2 billion. Judge Sonya Sotomayer's confirmation vote is today - Sotomayer is expected to be easily confirmed.

We have one Chamber event today: a Cruise One Mixer at the Four Points Sheraton.

And that's it! Have a great day.
