Daily Briefing, 11/9/2009

Good morning everyone!  Our week-long absence is over - we know you missed us terribly.  But, we are now back and ready for blog for you once again!  Here is today's news.

If you wanted a flu-shot this weekend and went to Dorney Park for a free drive-through clinic, or if you just happened to be driving down Hamilton Street, you probably saw a massive traffic jam that took many by surprise.  The clinic had so many attendees that a subsequent clinic the next day had to be shortened in order to ensure that there was enough vaccine to go around.

In state-wide news, the SEPTA strike in Philadelphia has ended, as the union and transit authority signed a contract early this morning.  The Monday commute is expected to be back to normal.

In national news, sweeping health care reform legislation passed the House of Representatives this weekend by a vote of 220-215.  Only one Republican voted for the measure while 39 Democrats opposed it.  The bill now moves onto the Senate, where it faces a much more difficult landscape.

Business Matters airs tonight, and the show features a panel with all four of our Lehigh Valley State Senators.  The show will air at 8pm on WFMZ.

That's it for now!  Have a great day and we'll see you later.
