Daily Briefing, 10/12/2010

Good morning everyone!  Here is today's Daily Briefing.

Lehigh County is looking to sell land in South Whitehall Township to Dorney Park in the hopes that the land will be used to create more jobs.  Sodexho workers went on a one day strike at three Lehigh Valley hospitals yesterday, protesting what they say are poor working conditions and anti-Union policies.  In political news, Vice President Joe Biden will once again be in the Valley on October 18, campaigning for John Callahan's campaign for Congress.

In national news, it now appears that the Department of Labor will be revising the amount of jobs lost between April 2009 and March 2010, adding another 366,000 to the jobs lost column.  A New York Times story notes that the political playing field is expanding for Republicans and shrinking for Democrats as it appears increasingly likely that Republicans will take the House in the upcoming elections.

We have two Chamber events today: a customer service seminar from Dan's Camera City and a sold-out Speed Networking event.

That's it for now!  Have a great day, and we'll see you later.
