Daily Briefing, 6/28/2011

Good morning everyone!  Here is today's Daily Briefing.

PBS39 will be moving into their new headquarters at the SteelStacks.  State Representative Joe Brennan (D-133) will face additional charges related to his DUI arrest last week.  The Lehigh Valley unemployment rate rose from 8.2% to 8.4%.  Tolls on the Delaware River will increase by to $1 this Thursday.

In budget news, the House and Senate failed to reach the 2/3 majority needed to cut state-related funding for universities when Democrats refused to vote.  The House did approve the final version of the Fair Share Tort Reform legislation, sending it to Governor Corbett's desk for his signature.

In national news, former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was found guilty on 17 of 20 charges.

We have two Chamber events today: a reception with Congressman Charlie Dent and a luncheon with our Women's Business Council on issues facing managers.

That's it for now!  Have a good one and we'll see you later.

"Tolls on the Delaware River will increase by $1 this Thursday."

Thanks for catching that - it is going up to $1. The correction has been made.
