Lehigh Valley International Airport reported an increase in passengers that flew out of the airport compared to May of last year; this news came the same day that the Airport began to pay its legal bills stemming from a fifteen year battle over a land dispute. Northampton County Executive John Stoffa has said that he is going to wait on appointing a new Director of Finance, opting instead to write his 2012 budget. In School District news, both Catasauqua and East Penn School Districts have approved budgets that raise property taxes by 1.8%.
In budget news, the Pennsylvania Senate passed the 2011-2012 budget last night. The budget now heads to the House.
In national news, Congress and the President appear to have reached a deal that would ratify trade pacts between the US and South Korea, Columbia & Panama.
