Daily Briefing, 8/31/2011

Good morning everyone!  Here is today's Daily Briefing.

The Great Allentown Fair officially opened yesterday.  Officials from the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA) will be in the area today to assess the damage caused by Irene.  Speaking of Irene, more than 3,000 are still without power in Lehigh County, with less than 20,000 in the entire region still without power.

In Harrisburg, state hearings will be held on illegal immigration.

In national news, General David Petraeus has retired from the army so that he can become the next head of the CIA.

We have one Chamber event today, and its a big one: Lehigh County Executive Don Cunningham will be presenting his Lehigh County budget address.

That's it for now.  I don't think we'll have another entry later today, so have a great day, and we'll see you tomorrow!
