Daily Briefing, 9/22/11

Good morning everyone!  Here is today's Daily Briefing.

More people in the Valley are in poverty this year than last year.  More than 3,500 people attended a job fair hosted by CareerLink Lehigh Valley, held yesterday at Ag Hall in Allentown.  In North Whitehall, Supervisors are set to hire the Township's first full-time manager.  A new report shows that the Allentown-Bethlehem-Easton metropolitan area is the 13th smoggiest in the nation among areas of similar sizes.

In national news, Republican Presidential candidates will debate tonight in Florida.  The state of Georgia executed Troy Davis yesterday after a worldwide protest against Davis' execution.

We have two Chamber events today: an Open House at the Holiday Inn in Bethlehem (celebrating its fifth anniversary) and a mixer at the KNBT in downtown Easton.

That's it for now!  Have a good one - we'll have more later today.
