Daily Briefing, 9/27/2011

Good morning everyone!  Here is today's Daily Briefing.

The Lehigh Valley's unemployment rate increased from 8.8% to 9.1% in August, shedding 2,100 jobs.  In Alburtis, an arrest has been made in the double-murder that shocked the small community.  John Callahan has been fined by the FEC for improperly using funds from his Mayoral campaign in his Congressional run.  In Bethlehem, a draft audit shows that the city finished in 2010 with a $7.2 million debt.

In state-wide news, the Attorney General's office has launched a corruption case, alleging that the House Republican used taxpayer money to make purchases that benefited political campaigns.

In national news, the Senate approved legislation that will avoid a Government shutdown.
