Daily Briefing, 9/9/2011

Good morning everyone!  Here is today's Daily Briefing.

Rains have continued throughout the state, making flooding conditions likely in the Valley.  The flooding is actually so bad that it has closed the Pennsylvania Turnpike between Reading and Harrisburg East.  Great news for the Iron Pigs, who won their first post-season game yesterday.

With the anniversary of 9-11 coming up, there is apparently a credible terror threat against the U.S, and specifically New York and Washington.  President Obama addressed Congress and the nation yesterday, unveiling a $450 million jobs plan.  There was mixed economic news, with a lower trade gap but higher amount of people applying for unemployment.  A federal appeals court dismissed a challenge to President Obama's health care reform law.

We have one Chamber event today: a Grand Opening & Mixer at Smokehouse's Leaf Cigar Bar & Restaurant.

That's it for now - have a good one, and we'll see you later!
