In Allentown, teachers approved a three-year contract that called for a one year pay freeze. At Allentown City Hall, Managing Director Ken Bennington announced his resignation. In the Bethlehem Area School District, the preliminary budget hikes taxes 4%. The Wilson Area School District's preliminary budget raises taxes 1.8%. In Emmaus, Shane Pipe was hired yesterday as the new Borough Manager. In Macungie, Council voted to restore funding cuts made earlier - this will likely result in a larger tax increase.
In state-wide news, Congressman Todd Platts (R-PA) announced yesterday that he will retire from Congress.
