Daily Briefing, 1/18/2012

Good morning everyone!  Here is today's Daily Briefing.

In Allentown, teachers approved a three-year contract that called for a one year pay freeze.  At Allentown City Hall, Managing Director Ken Bennington announced his resignation.  In the Bethlehem Area School District, the preliminary budget hikes taxes 4%.  The Wilson Area School District's preliminary budget raises taxes 1.8%.  In Emmaus, Shane Pipe was hired yesterday as the new Borough Manager.  In Macungie, Council voted to restore funding cuts made earlier - this will likely result in a larger tax increase.

In state-wide news, Congressman Todd Platts (R-PA) announced yesterday that he will retire from Congress.

We have two Chamber events today: a review of the latest in Social Media rules & regulations and a tour of the Nestle Pure Life Facility.

That's it for now!  Have a great day and we'll try to get back to you later.  Have a good one!
