Daily Briefing, 8/15/2012

Good morning everyone!  Here is today's Daily Briefing.

In Allentown, both the city and its firefighters union are challenging the most recent arbitration ruling on its fire-fighters contract.  Home sales in the Valley jumped a massive 27.1% in July, while average prices also increased 2.6%.

In state-wide news, Penn State has received a warning on its accreditation status as a result of the Sandusky scandal.

In national news, a new report shows that retail sales rose in July, the first such rise in four months.  Immigration policy changes go into effect today; the changes will allow the children of illegal immigrants to apply to legally stay in the U.S.

We have one Chamber event today: the Hispanic Chamber is holding an after-hours fiesta at the Staybridge Suites.

That's it for now!  Have a great day, and we'll see you later.
