What is the top occupation in demand in LV?

Nancy Dischinat, Executive Director, Lehigh Valley Workforce Development Board, Inc.

What is the top occupation in demand and top targeted industry here in the Lehigh Valley?
Healthcare and more specifically registered nurses are in demand.  It is no surprise since the Lehigh Valley has some of the best hospitals in the country. I quickly explore the demand here in the Lehigh Valley with the demand nationally.  Here is your September 2016 Lehigh Valley SnapShot.

If registered nurses are one of the highest occutpations in demand, it could make you wonder who employs the registered nurses?  Here is an example of RN employment setting nationally. 63% are employed by hospitals.
The United States Bureau of Labor and Statistics offer these stats on registered nurses.  The percentage of growth is 16% which according to them is growing faster than all other occupations.

Employment of registered nurses is projected to grow 16 percent from 2014 to 2024, much faster than the average for all occupations. Growth will occur for a number of reasons, including an increased emphasis on preventive care; growing rates of chronic conditions, such as diabetes and obesity; and demand for healthcare services from the baby-boom population, as they live longer and more active lives.
