Welcome to Spring! As I sit here taking in the unseasonably warm temperatures for April, I can’t help but think about the exciting season that lies ahead for us, both as business partners and a community. To take full advantage of your Chamber membership and strengthen your network, get out your calendar and plan to participate in one or more Chamber events this spring! Our programs have never been better.
In May and June, there is a Chamber event that provides access to just about every segment of our Lehigh Valley business community. First, the Hispanic Chamber’s Annual Cinco de Mayo Fiesta takes place on Tuesday, May 2, and the end of that week brings the YPC Kentucky Derby Benefit on Saturday, May 6. The following week, on Friday, May 12, the Chamber is hosting a very special networking lunch and live Business Matters taping with six PA Congressmen - what an opportunity to engage in what is impacting the Valley from beyond. In mid-May, enjoy the season of green with the Krajsa Cup & Chamber Board of Governors Golf Classic on Monday, May 22.
Also in May, several area Chambers celebrate the past year with their annual award dinners, including the Bethlehem Chamber Annual Dinner & Awards on Wednesday, May 3 and the Allentown Chamber Annual Dinner & Awards on Wednesday, May 24. The following month, two more annual dinner and awards will be held: the Phillipsburg Area Chamber Annual Dinner and Awards on Tuesday, June 6 and the Easton Area Chamber Annual Dinner and Awards on Thursday, June 15.
To kick-off June, we present the inspiring Iraqi War Veteran Scotty Smiley on Friday June 2. Major Smiley exemplifies the power of teamwork, overcoming obstacles, and finding strength and hope, no matter the circumstances. The following week, the Lehigh Valley Women’s Summit occurs on Wednesday, June 7. This event is an extraordinary opportunity to spend the day with the biggest gathering of the Valley’s most influential women in business, philanthropy, government, education, healthcare and the arts. The next day, the Lehigh Valley Transportation Forum on Tuesday, June 8 will feature Pulitzer Prize winning author, Ed Humes. The rest of June is packed with spectacular community events, like the 10th Annual Blues Brews & Barbecue in Downtown Allentown on Saturday, June 10; Bethlehem Italian Festival on Saturday, June 17; and Phillipsburg’s Ole Towne Festival on Friday and Saturday, June 23 and 24. Along with community events are some local chamber ceremonies, including SBC’s Excellence in Business Awards on Tuesday, June 13; the Easton Area Chamber Annual Awards Reception on Thursday, June 15; and the LGBT Gala on Friday, June 16.
What opportunities are on our horizon for this Spring season! The Chamber and its affiliates have worked hard to develop an extensive array of events and programs to enhance our community. We welcome you to get involved in these outstanding events.
Check your email, our website, and the pages of your Connections publication regularly for event details and sponsorship opportunities to make the most of your membership.
